What do you need to teach college level art?

I am taking studio art in college right now and a professor is trying to get me to become a teacher. I don’t know what I would need to teach at college level. Would I need to follow the art education curriculum? Or just continue on the path I am on and get my masters? If I teach, I may end up teaching animation, but I love the fine arts too.

you’ll need a Doctor’s degree in Art Teacher Education: A program that prepares individuals to teach art and art appreciation programs at various educational levels.

The education degree would help, but isn’t essential.
In order to be adjunct, a lot of places expect a Master’s, or a great deal of unique experience.
I would go the Master’s route- that way, you could take the opportunity to teach as a graduate student to decide if you like it.
