DivO asked:
Art classes are being pulled from schools. Across the world, art is part of the culture of the people.
It makes me sick.

Americans don’t value the arts or music because it is an intangable. It creates a lopsided culture, and when people are never exposed to art in school or when young, they never grow to appreciate it or do it themselves.

a new culture is emerging. fast food-eating, reality tv-loving, cell phone junkies. soon you’ll just be able to download all art onto your computer and view it there.

because art classes materials are expensive and our government has other things to purchase like automatic rifles, foreign interpreters, surface to air missles and satellite equipment.

Because the importance of art is not appreciated by the masses…the dumbing down of America takes the creative areas as it’s first victims.

Art is coming less important because we have better technology. In the olden days, everyone loved making art sculptures and such. Today, art is usually a past time. They are trying to teach children more important things. I’m not saying art is bad, but not many people have a taste for art anymore.

Some people do not see the benefit, and they are pushing to cut funding. I think it’s a mistake. “Abstract” art can be difficult to understand, and some of it is really pure garbage, just “created” to draw attention to the artist. That doesn’t help.

Americans are becoming more and more materialistic and everything is being gauged with money and wealth; faster money and life comforts. Art, whatever a little left in the American life, has importance in terms of its market value mainly. Who has time and efforts for culture or heritage?

It is up to you and me to keep our culture alive.
Maybe you should support the arts in way you can, doing your part to keep it apart of the fundamental things that are important to our culture alive…it’s just a thought.

Because we are rapidly becoming a culture in which everything is done for us and in which we don’t know how to do anything for ourselves. Heck, why bother doing any research? Just post your homework questions at Yahoo Answers!
